Case Study | MFA Graduate Thesis Project
Academy of Art University Graduate School of Web Design & New Media
Week 12
This week was a very busy week for me outside of class. Once again, I have been up most nights into the wee-hours of the morning.
I have started the process of moving all of my blog posts from Tublr to my website's Studio Blog. This is a very tedious process, but well worth it in the end.
I am gaining more clarity about my projects' purpose and up until now, the audio narrative (story) has not been clear. It's creation isn't the focus of my UX Design: Human Centered Design class, but it is a main component of the project and does effect the other aspects/components of the project, making it evident that I need to define it in more detail.
At first, I was going to base my story on quantum mechanics. However, after really thinking about this, I have realized that I am trying to tie-in too many complex ideas- and if I have learned one thing in my class experience it is... LESS is MORE.
I have realized that one of my personal challenges is simplifying my focus. I tend to love diving into the details and thinking that everything is equally important. So, I must simplify.
I realized that my project's core purpose is exploring spiritual awakening to help people realize their potential and with that realization/awareness create a better reality for themselves, their community, and the world at large.
My Portfolio
I also realized that I need to create an updated portfolio. The ones I have are from 7 or more years ago. So, I decided to create a new portfolio using Adobe Portfolio through Behance.
I love the result!
You can check out my NEW PORTFOLIO site here.
I have begun modifying my presentation with this clarification and will continue in next week's revisions.
Here are the highlights of what I have accomplished this week:
- Provided, received, and implemented feedback from my instructor and classmates
- Practiced presenting my slideshow using KeyNote with audio and visual recording.
- Added the presentation date to my cover slide
- Created and added new slides:
- About Me
- Portfolio
- Resume
- Created a Testing Slide to add to my Proof of Concept (POC)
- Developed my POCs into a high-fidelity user interface design for key scenarios of my Project and Illustrated a path through the interactive system using Adobe XD.
Although I will be presenting my Midpoint Review in the Fall I have included this semester's date for the sake of my presentation during the class.
Presentation date added to my title slide:
I added an "About Me" slide:
I added an "Resume" slide:
Coming-Up Next...
Next week, I am looking forward to:
- Analyzing effective speaking principles and improving my presentation
- Defining the scope of my project
- Evaluating the selection of sources and references to include in my bibliography
This blog will serve as a place to create my case study. I invite you to follow along with me as I journey through this process.
Thank you for reading and for your interest.
